Biotechnology is a learning program that raises scientists who can prepare both scientific and popular studies in our country. Biotechnology is the use of modern technology in natural science, with the improvement of living things, the production, and development of better products by changing the functions existing in cells of plants, animals, and microorganisms. Today, this program, which creates its own scientific working environment by moving away from the working areas of the basic biology, has become the focus of the whole world.
Researches on the investigation and resolution of the genetic structure of all kinds of organisms including microorganisms are carried out in vivo and in vitro. In addition, DNA and gene transfer methods are used to produce high-yielding species. Also, this science is used in the production of solutions for diagnosis and treatment of diseases such as cancer and AIDS which are the highest health problems of our country. At the same time, studies such as paternity tests and detection of suspicious persons use DNA analysis of skin, hair and body fluids and are the subject of this scientific field.
Biotechnology includes Biochemistry, Physiology, Genetics, Microbiology, Molecular Biology, Engineering, Computer Engineering and DNA Technology.
22 faculty members, 10 doctoral students, 28 graduate students continue their thesis studies and researches within the Biotechnology Application and Research Center.
