Molecular Biology is a scientific discipline in which the phenomena that constitute the subject of biology, called living science, are studied and enlightened at the molecular level. The atoms and molecules that form the basis of existence have been organized in a more complex and enormous structure, with a peculiar arrangement in systems called living. Living organisms formed by macromolecules such as DNA or RNA; have macromolecular complexes, organelles, cells, tissues, organs, and systems, which are the products of these macromolecules. Illuminating the working mechanisms of these molecules, which control all events necessary for life and transmit their properties genetically to the new generation, provide great advantages to humanity.
Molecular Biology and Genetics Science is seen as the most important scientific discipline of our day and future. Mankind who constantly develops itself is seeking solutions in order to find a remedy for the diseases developing and diversifying together with technology and to increase the efficiency of the elements which are important in human nutrition and development by using the biological molecules which form the basis of life. Recent developments in genetic engineering and biotechnology fields provide great opportunities to upgrade our life quality. Nowadays, applications in the Molecular Biology and Genetics discipline have spread to a wide range of scientific fields like medicine, drug, food, agriculture, biomedicine, and criminology.
Graduates of the Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics will be able to work in national and international research centers and laboratories, as well as in academic institutions, in the fields of medical sciences, biomedical and pharmaceutical industry, agriculture and food sector, and forensic sciences.
The Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics, established within the Faculty of Science and Letters of Bilecik Şeyh Edebali University, aims to provide more opportunities for students by working with enthusiasm.
