INFORMATION ABOUT TURKISH LANGUAGE COURSES

In the Turkish language courses where the main goal is to improve the four basic skills of learning (listening, reading, speaking and writing) Turkish language to be used in daily lives to meet the concrete needs of students is a target to teach.  At Bilecik Şeyh Edebali University, Turkish Language Teaching Research and Application Centre (TÖMER), Turkish courses for foreigners are given as beginner, intermediate and advanced levels by experienced instructors.

Beginner Level: A1 – A2

Intermediate Level: B1 – B2

Advanced Level: C1 – C2

BEGINNER LEVEL: (A1 – A2)

A1 LEVEL

Learning is structured around basic concepts. The learner can understand familiar words and very basic phrases about himself/herself, his/her family and his/her kin when spoken slowly and clearly. One can understand familiar nouns and very simple sentences in written texts such as catalogues, announcements, posters or banners.  Upon completing the real-life based language training course, the student can perform interactions such as meeting any person, solving his/her concrete needs by using simple expressions in the target language.

A2 LEVEL

It grounds on the main goal of the language teaching which is the development of communication skills. One can understand phrases and frequently used words associated with subjects that directly related him/herself. (For instance; very basic personal and family information, shopping, local geography, employment). One can grasp the main idea of short, clear and simple messages. One can understand general information about simple everyday texts such as advertisements, manuals, menus, timetables and short personal letters.

INTERMEDIATE LEVEL: (B1 – B2)

B1 LEVEL

One can connect various structures together in a simple way in order to express his/her experiences, dreams, hopes and ambitions. One can understand main outlines of most of the radio and television programs related to the current events or issues of personal interest when they are slow and clear. One can get the main points of clear, standard speech on familiar matters generally came upon at work, school, and etc. One can understand and interpret texts that contain the most frequently used words related with the daily life or the occupation.

B2 LEVEL

One can communicate fluently and naturally with native speakers Turkish language without strain. One can write information provided essays or reports not only giving reasons, but also supporting or denying the point of view on a specific point of view. One can express a viewpoint on a subject by showing the positive and negative aspects of various options. One can understand the news and the programs on current events on TV and most of the films in which the standard language is used.

ADVANCED LEVEL: C1 – C2

C1 LEVEL

One can understand long conversations even if they are not explicitly structured and relationships are not explicitly stated.  One can read long and complex, concrete or literary texts by distinguishing their stylistic differences and understand the articles and long technical information related with any field of expertise even if they are not relevant to his/her interests. One can express himself/herself in a fluent and natural way without searching too much of the words he/she will use. One can use language flexibly and effectively for social and professional purposes. One can express his/her opinions in detail with clear, well-structured texts.
