Emergency medical technicians (EMTs) and paramedics care for the sick or injured people in emergency medical settings. People’s lives often depend on the quick reaction and competent care of emergency provided by these workers. EMTs and paramedics respond to emergency calls, performing medical services and transporting patients to medical facilities. A First and Emergency Aid Technician is expected to be well-equipped for initial intervention in a serious condition prior to professional medical help being available. The primary objective of the Associate Degree Program for First and Emergency Aid Technicians is to train healthcare professionals tightly linked to medical ethics and deontological rules.
AIM of the PROGRAM:
The aim of this program is to train qualified staff to work in emergency health service units of other institutions and organizations, especially health institutions.

PHYSICAL PROPERTIES of STUDENTS:
The program involves to get a health report showing that the student does not have any mental and physical disorder which impede to obtain driving licence. Driving is obligatory in the second year of the education. Therefore, the students must have completed 17 years of age during the application. During the practical courses, students are required to wear special uniforms that help to identify them with their profession. The male students to be taken in this program should not be shorter than 1.65 meters and the female students should not be shorter than 1.60 meters. Weights of the students have to be maximum 5 more or minimum 15 less than the last two digits of their height expressed in centimeters. For the rescue and transportation work, the candidates must have the physical competency enough to carry a patient with his/her teammate. OCCUPATIONAL PROFILE OF GRADUATES:
The students who successfully complete the program are awarded the degree of “Health Technician”. Primary and Emergency Aid Technicians can work in private or public ambulance services, university and state hospitals, private health institutions, emergency services and emergency aid units.
There are job opportunities in the government sector (appointed depending on KPSS score) or private ambulance companies and private hospital emergency services.
The students can continue their education in an undergraduate education if they succeed in the Vertical Transition Examination, which is opened by the “Student Selection and Placement Center” after graduation from the Vocational School. With the improving technology, healthcare organizations prefer qualified university graduates and this need is supposed to be even more important in the future.
