About Department

Dear Students and Guests,

Our department was founded in 2015 and accepted first students in 2015-2016 academic year. Regular period of study is 4 years in our department but students may register one year preliminary English courses. In addition to regular period of study, students must complete 40 days internship consisting of 20 days field and 20 days business and management internships.

Metallurgical and Materials Engineers work on economical manufacturing of suitable materials, determination of materials properties, bringing novel properties by altering the structure of materials, development of novel materials and manufacturing methods in line with requirements as well as materials characterization. Metallurgical and Materials Engineering is an interdisciplinary field and has become highly popular with applications in nanomaterials and nanotechnology.

The curriculum of Metallurgical and Materials Engineering department covers wide range of topics from traditional manufacturing metallurgy to the futuristic science, nanotechnology. Furthermore, the program has technical elective courses in accordance with the students’ specializations and non-technical elective courses to improve their social development. Students can also benefit from international exchange programs such as Erasmus and Farabi to contribute their technical and social abilities. Moreover, there are double major and minor opportunities in Faculty of Engineering for students who are willing to excel in different fields.

Being established in the city of Bilecik, the center of the ceramic industry and close to the automotive industry, our department with professional academic staff and well equipped laboratories aims to train students to be well qualified engineers and become a department having ability to bring out projects turning science to economic benefits via University-Industry collaborations.
